Convert WebP to JPG in your browser

WebP is the image format many websites now serve because it is small and fast. The catch is that images you save from the web often end up as .webp files that some photo editors, office suites, printing services and upload forms still refuse to open. This WebP to JPG converter turns them into ordinary JPGs that work everywhere.

Everything happens locally. Your browser decodes the WebP, draws it onto a canvas and encodes a new JPG on your own device. There is no upload, no account and no waiting on a server, so personal photos and work images stay private.

Picking the JPG quality

The slider runs from 10 to 100. A value around 90 is a safe default that keeps fine detail while producing a reasonably small file. Lower values shrink the file further at the cost of visible softening, which is fine for thumbnails or quick previews. Because WebP is already a compressed format, very high settings mostly add bytes without bringing back lost detail.

WebP vs JPG and transparency

WebP can hold transparency and animation; JPG can do neither. Transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose, and animated WebP files are converted using their first frame. If you need to keep transparency, use the WebP to PNG converter instead. You can convert many files in one go: a single file downloads directly, while several arrive as one ZIP in which each JPG keeps the original file name.

Files that cannot be decoded are skipped and listed under the converter instead of stopping the whole batch. For other formats try the image converter, and if the JPG must fit a strict size limit, resize the image or run it through the image compressor afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Are my WebP files uploaded?
No. Your browser decodes the WebP and saves a JPG locally, so nothing leaves your device.
Why convert WebP to JPG?
Some older apps, editors, printers and upload forms still reject WebP. JPG opens practically everywhere.
Can I convert several WebP files at once?
Yes. Select multiple files and they are all converted and downloaded together as one ZIP.
What happens to transparency?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with the background color you pick (white by default).
